Warriors fall at home to NH

By Becky Walz,

A slow night offensively was the undoing of the South Winn boys’ basketball team as the Warriors (3-2, 2-1 UIC) fell at home to New Hampton (1-3, 0-0 NEIC) Thursday night, 59-39.
It was close to start the game, with the Warriors trailing 13-12 after the first eight minutes. However, it was the second frame that saw the Chickasaws pull ahead, outscoring the Warriors 16-7 during that time to lead 29-19 at the half. South Winn pulled closer in the third to go into the final period down 38-32.
Keagen Streeter had the hot hand, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Nick Holien also had a strong game with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Trey Kriener was strong under the basket with 14 boards.
The Warriors host North Fayette Valley Thursday, Dec. 16, then Central Elkader Friday, Dec. 17.
