Offensive explosions in Monday’s varsity doubleheader led to a pair of five inning games between the 10th-ranked South Winn Warriors (5-1, 3-0 UIC) and Turkey Valley (2-7, 2-4 UIC). The Warriors took the conference games, 11-0 and 12-0.
The second and third innings in each game proved to be the big innings, with the Warriors scoring nine runs in each game over those two frames.
South Winn opened the night with two runs in the first when Kole Hageman scored on a Parker Timp single. Timp later plated a run on a hit by Brody Tieskoetter. Streeter, Timp, Jordan Baumler and Nolan Sabelka took advantage of timely hits in the second to pull the Warriors out front 6-0. A five-run third by South Winn closed the door on the Trojans who scattered three hits in the first three frames.
In game two, the Warriors once again found a way to put two runs across home plate before adding five in the second. Three of the second inning runs came on a double by Timp. Four runs in the third and one in the fourth ended the nightcap early, 12-0.
“I thought our guys really came out with a good mentality at the plate swinging a hitters pitches and squaring the ball up. On the mound, both Braiden and Carson had great command and were able to get three pitches across for strikes,” said SW Coach Alex Smith.

Highlighting the Warriors
The Warrior pitching duo of Braiden Todd and Carson Streeter was dominant over the two games combining to strike out 21 batters and walk one.
Several players up and down the lineup for the Warriors had multiple hits and South Winn combined for 22 hits in the doubleheader. Streeter led the way with a 5-for-6 performance with five RBI. Parker Timp tagged the ball four times for doubles and drove in five runs, while Todd produced four hits and two RBI. Brody Tieskoetter pounded out two hits and drove in two runs in game one and Eric Greve went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in game two.
