Playing on the road back-to-back, the Decorah softball team (8-4, 4-2 NEIC) split the end of last week, defeating Kee High (8-12, 6-2 UIC) in New Albin, 8-3, Thursday and taking a loss to New Hampton (5-8, 2-3 NEIC) Friday night, 10-3.
After rains washed out the non-conference contest with Kee Wednesday night, the Vikings were able to reschedule the game for Thursday on the road. Decorah put two runs up in each of the first two frames and tacked on three in the third, holding the Hawks to a lone tally in the second. Kee scratched two runs out in the bottom of the fifth; however, the Vikings would hold on for the victory.
Getting the win on the mound was Clara Hjelle with three Ks. Decorah had 11 hits in the contest with Ellie Luzum, Hjelle and Lillian Olson each connecting for a double. E. Luzum also had two singles and drove in two runs. Also having two-hits in the game were Lani Hubka and Autumn Schaller.
Stats from Friday’s contest at New Hampton were unavailable at press time.
