Vikes celebrate senior night with win

It was the ninth shutout for the Decorah boys’ soccer team (12-3) Monday as the Vikes celebrated their senior members with a 5-0 win over Waverly-Shell Rock (2-12) at home.

It was the ninth shutout for the Decorah boys’ soccer team (12-3) Monday as the Vikes celebrated their senior members with a 5-0 win over Waverly-Shell Rock (2-12) at home.
Bradyn Hook knocked the first goal back for the Vikes, assisted by Ryan Johanningmeier in the sixth minute of the match. Johanningmeier assisted the second goal in the 21st minute, off a beautiful give and go combo with scorer Jake Magner. 
In the second half, Edgar Aguilar scored his first varsity goal of the season assisted by Larsson Shockey, who assisted the next goal by Drew Berns in the 32nd minute. Finishing off scoring for the Vikes was Zachary Jermier with a smart, back post run off a ball from Hook. 
Brayden Reiser went the distance in the goal, combining with the defense of Jermier, Berns, Brody Young, Garrick Smith, Isaac Cooper, Drew White and Dylan Muhlbauer for their ninth shutout of the year. 
The Vikes will begin the first round of substate with a match on their home pitch versus West Delaware (1-14) Thursday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m.
