A rough first half was too much for the visitors to overcome with the Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team (1-4, 1-4 UIC) falling to Clayton Ridge (3-3, 2-3 UIC) Friday night in Guttenberg, 35-28.
The Trojans fell behind early, going into the second quarter down 10-6. The Eagles extended their lead to 19-8 at halftime. In the second half, TV worked to erase the hole that had been dug, outscoring Clayton Ridge 20-16, but it wasn’t enough.
“We just couldn’t get in sync, though we did a better job of rebounding,” said Coach Steve Hoffert. “We just couldn’t hit the shot when we needed it.”
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.
The Trojans have two games at home later this week as Turkey Valley hosts West Central Friday, Dec. 15, at 6:15 p.m., and New Hampton Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m.
