Trojans take care of Pirates

It was another two tallies in the win column for the Turkey Valley softball team (4-10, 4-2 UIC) against the Pirates (0-6, 0-6 UIC) in Postville Monday night, 16-2 and 18-1.
The Trojans had game one wrapped up early, scoring seven runs in the first and nine in the second, finishing the game in three frames. In total, TV had nine hits. Clare Courtney was 2-for-2 with a triple and one RBI. Going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and driving in two runs was Jacqlyn Schmitt, while Olivia Snyder had a double and two RBI. Maici Weber also had a double.
Game two was another three inning affair for the Trojans as they plated four runs in the first, 10 in the second and four in the third. This time the Trojans pounded out 10 hits. Alison Leibold was 3-for-3 with all doubles and drove in seven runs. M. Weber came through with two hits including a triple and two RBI, while Brianna Busta was 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Both wins went to M. Weber as she threw a total of four innings, gave up two hits and struck out seven. Sierra Morris and Halle Weber each pitched an inning in game two in relief.
Wednesday, the Trojans were at home against Central Elkader and look to be competitive at the New Hampton tournament Saturday, June 17, at 9 a.m. Turkey Valley kicks off next week on the road at West Central Monday, June 19, in a conference twinbill at 5 p.m.
