The Turkey Valley baseball team (6-2, 5-1 UIC) is gaining conviction in its game after splitting a non-conference doubleheader at New Hampton Saturday and getting a pair of wins over Clayton Ridge-Central Tuesday at home.

Confidence
Things clicked for the Trojans Tuesday at home as Turkey Valley knocked off Clayton Ridge-Central (3-7, 2-4 UIC) in both games of the doubleheader.
In the first contest, the Trojans won 10-3. They scored two runs in the second frame, then exploded for seven in the third and tacked on one in the sixth.
TV scattered eight hits with timely doubles by Garrett Dietzenbach, Chase Hayek and Aidan Holthaus. Noah Hanson had a pair of singles, with Calvin Bodensteiner, Caleb Kurtenbach and Hayek each adding one.
Game two was a closer affair with the Trojan Carson Busta kicking it off with a triple to centerfield. The senior later scored on a pass ball to give TV the early 1-0 lead. The WarEagles responded with two in the top of the second and one in the third for a 3-1 advantage through the sixth inning. It was then that the Trojans strung together some hits by Caleb Kurtenbach, Hayek, Russell Nieman and C. Busta to score three times. Clayton Ridge-Central threatened in the top of the seventh with one run, but it wasn’t enough as Oliver Schmitt got the save on the hill.

Non-conference split
On the diamond at New Hampton (5-1) Saturday morning, the Trojans weren’t prepared for game one, but rebounded to defeat the Chickasaws in game two.
The home team took control of game one with a five-run first inning and added three in each the second and third frames. Turkey Valley got a little momentum in the fifth with two runs, but New Hampton put the game to bed in the sixth with the 10-run rule, 12-2.
Chase Hayek threw the first two frames with Logan Busta coming on in relief.
The Trojans had four hits. Oliver Schmitt had one and drove in both of the Trojans’ runs. Also rapping out singles were Carson Busta, Noah Hanson and Hayek.
All the runs in game two were scored in the first two innings by both squads as Turkey Valley was the victor, 3-1.
In four innings on the hill, Hanson recorded the win with six strikeouts with Russell Nieman throwing in relief.
Once again, TV had four hits with Hanson going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and stolen base. Schmitt also had a double and an RBI. C. Busta had the Trojans’ other single.
