Tough night for Vikings

By Becky Walz,

Although the Decorah boys’ wrestling team was ranked one spot above No. 13 Independence in the preseason rankings, the Vikes couldn’t pick up the wins Tuesday on the road. The Mustangs took the dual 53-18.
Four Vikings picked up wins on the night. Starting weight for the dual was 190 and it was Class 2A No. 3 Tommy Sexton picking up the 11-1 major decision victory over Class 2A No. 8 Braylen Bieber.
Meison Tollefson threw Braeden Tegtmeier in 51 seconds to record the only fall of the night for Decorah at 106 pounds.
At 150 pounds it was Will Larson who earned the 19-1 tech fall in 4:40 over Logan Bevans.
Class 2A ninth-ranked William Fullhart took the final victory of the night at 165 pounds. The sophomore won by a 10-4 decision over Christopher Meyer.
