The Decorah girls’ wrestling team took on Crestwood on Thursday, Jan. 11, earning victories in six out of ten matches to win the dual 60-24.
Ellie Adams started the night on a high note with a fall at 115 pounds, pinning Addalyn Isaacson in 1:51. At 130 pounds, Kaitlyn Bjork kept the ball rolling by throwing Brooklyn Burke in 2:53. Picking up a fall in 1:57, McKenzie Tollefson defeated Cameron Thiele at 135 pounds. In was another fall for the Vikings at 140 pounds as Amelia Wadsworth put Amber Harmening on her back in 1:42. It took Ana Simon just 15 seconds to turn Madi Fritcher-Larson for the fall at 145 pounds. Lauren Luzum earned her fall in 3:30 at 155 pounds over Briana Burke. At 190 pounds, top-ranked Naomi Simon threw Rose Niewoeher in 1:23. Chloe Sheffield had the final fall of the night over Kelsey Adams in 1:14 at 100 pounds. Annaleissa Arnold (170) and Isabelle Alley (235) each received a forfeit.
“The team came out and took care of business. It was a great start with Ellie Adams recording a fall to begin the night and the rest of the team continued to rally after that. It was a dominant performance from start to finish,” said Coach Gene Adams.
The Vikings will compete again on Senior Recognition Night Thursday, Jan. 18, in a double dual at home with Charles City and South Winn with wrestling beginning at 5:30 p.m.
