It took three sets for the South Winn volleyball team (16-12, 6-1 UIC) to best Clayton Ridge (8-13, 2-4 UIC) on the road Tuesday night. Set scores were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-22.
“We continue to make some strides in our offensive game and a lot of that is credited to our consistent passing on defense and in serve receive, and quality setting from Avery Luzum and Ella Theis. Our girls are excited to take our skills to another level and we continue to push on them for development in practice and game day. I thought we really started to see some reads on the court that we need to make as we head toward the postseason,” said Coach Alex Smith.
The Warriors were clicking on offense with a number of players having solid nights. Katrina Hageman paced the way with 10 kills with Alyssa Holthaus adding five kills and eight players in total having kills on the evening. The setting duo of Avery Luzum and Ella Theis continued to produce with Theis recording 10 assists and Luzum 8.
The Warriors will enjoy some time off before their regular season finale against Central Elkader at home Tuesday, Oct. 10. It will be Dig Pink Night for the Warriors with silent auction items and proceeds going towards the Winneshiek County Celebration of Life.
