Four second quarter scores enough to lift Decorah to win

Thursday, September 19, 2024 10:04 am

An interception in the final minute by Caleb Krieg was the difference Friday night as the Decorah football team (3-0, 0-0), who is ranked sixth in Class 4A by the Cedar Rapids Gazette, defeated non-district foe Crestwood (0-3, 0-0) at home 28-21.
“This was another good win for us. Crestwood is a tough team and their kids competed hard until the end,” said Coach Mike Tangen. “I thought our defense played well for the majority of the game. Our offense missed some opportunities but made enough plays to secure the win. We have things that we need to clean up. We just need to be more consistent in our execution offensively and we gave up too many explosive plays on defense and special teams.”
