Opening conference play, the Decorah baseball team (5-0, 3-0 NEIC) swept New Hampton (1-5, 0-4 NEIC) on the road Friday night, 5-0 and 20-10. Tuesday night, the Vikings defended their own field against Waverly-Shell Rock (3-1, 0-1 NEIC) with a 3-1 victory.

Good pitching, solid defense and timely hitting will be keys to the success for the Decorah softball team this season. One week into the season, the Vikings look like the veteran squad they are, with a 3-0 record in the young season.
Leading the way is Head Coach Jill Boyd, who is in her fifth season with the program.

Turkey Valley senior Ali Hoffert closed out her high school golfing career with an appearance at the Class 1A Regional Golf Final held Monday, May 24, at the Mason City Country Club. The hot, humid weather was compounded by windy conditions throughout much of the day.
Xavier stops Viking netters shy of state final four

The Decorah girls’ tennis team fell short in their bid to reach the final four in this year’s state tourney on Monday in Independence. With rackets at the ready, the girls gave the Xavier Saints as much as they wanted but just could not win enough of the closely contested points to come away with a win, falling 5-0.

The Decorah girls’ golf team played their final golf meet of the season at Waverly Golf Course Monday in Class 3A Region 5 action. The 12-team regional final sends the top two teams to the state tournament as well as the top six individuals and ties.
