Decorah native Aubrey Buresh has accomplished something she never dreamed possible.
Buresh, a junior at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, recently competed with the UNI women’s rugby team at the Division I National Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. The Panthers placed second in the nation, their highest finish in school history at the Division I level.

Warriors take two in Harmony

The South Winn wrestling team closed out the first half of the season Tuesday, Dec. 21, in Harmony with a pair of wins over Fillmore Central/Lanesboro/Mabel-Canton (FCLMC) and Waukon.
The Warriors defeated FCLMC, 63-15 and Waukon 60-24, moving South Winn to a 9-2 dual record this far in the season.

The pins keep falling and wins keep coming for the Decorah bowling teams as both the boys and girls earned wins over Denver Friday in Tripoli.
The boys brought home the victory 2,569 to Denver’s 2,414. Baker scores were 167, 178, 149, 204 and 200.

After back-to-back losses, the South Winn boys’ basketball team (5-2, 4-1 UIC) is back in the win column, collecting two conference wins late last week over North Fayette Valley and Central Elkader.
Warriors win three at D-NH

Getting on the mats for four duals, the South Winn wrestling team picked up three wins Saturday at the Dike-New Hartford duals.
The Warriors defeated Marshalltown 42-36, the hosts (D-NH) 39-37 and OABCIG 66-18. Their lone loss was to Mount Vernon 57-12.
