The Decorah girls’ basketball team (7-4, 3-1 NEIC) rebounded from Friday’s loss to Waverly-Shell Rock by taking the 68-41 win from MFL MarMac (8-4, 8-0 UIC) at home Monday night.

Battling some adversity with four key matmen missing from the line-up, the South Winn wrestling team left Sumner with a pair of wins Tuesday night.
It was down to the wire versus IAWrestle’s No. 16 Sumner-Fred, but the Warriors pulled out the win 42-39. SW was dominant against Ed-Co, besting the Vikings 64-18.

The Decorah boys’ basketball team extended its streak to seven victories in a row Friday night, defeating Waverly-Shell Rock (7-3, 4-1) at home, 65-50.
Vikes claim WaHawk Invite crown

After getting in the water earlier last week, the Decorah boys’ swim team splashed some water on the competition again Saturday at the WaHawk Invite in Waterloo.
The Vikings garnered 370 points to finish first, a distant second was Vinton-Shellsburg/Center Point-Urbana with 240 points.

Finishing up a busy week of action, the South Winn wrestling team claimed third Saturday at the 55th annual Tripoli invite after going 3-1 at the Upper Iowa Conference duals in Guttenberg Thursday night.

The Decorah wrestling team took to the mats at the Chris Flanagan Invite Saturday at Crestwood. Creston won the team title with 214 points. Decorah earned fifth with 91.5 points.

It was a big task Friday for the Decorah girls’ basketball team (6-4, 3-1 NEIC) as the Vikes hosted Class 4A No. 7 Waverly-Shell Rock (9-2, 5-0). In the end it was the Go-Hawks coming out on top, 50-34.
Viking girls win Central Invite; SW 12th

Hitting the mats in an all-girls wrestling tournament at Central Elkader, the Decorah girls’ team walked away with the crown after earning 197 points Friday night. Second went to Charles City with 173 points. South Winn also was in action in Elkader, finishing with 42 points in 12th place.

The Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team (3-2, 2-2 UIC) took some time to find a groove Saturday night playing Waukon (2-9, 0-4 NEIC) in the Winter Classic at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. In the end the Trojans couldn’t finish the job, coming up short 63-58.

Girls net victory over Mabel-Canton

There was no answer to the Decorah girls’ basketball team’s offense as the Vikings (6-3, 3-0 NEIC) topped Mabel-Canton, 68-25, Tuesday night at home.
“Each game we strive to get one percent better. In this game we saw the floor better and made the extra pass to open teammates,” noted Coach Shannon Quandahl.
Swimmers secure five golds

The Decorah boys’ swim team got back in the water Tuesday night at Vinton-Shellsburg, competing against the V-S Vikings in a dual in a smaller than normal pool.
Decorah placed first in five of the 11 events to win 51 to 42.
