Vikes reign at Cresco, TV ninth

Getting the chance to compete outdoors, the Decorah and Turkey Valley girls’ track teams put on a show at Crestwood Tuesday. The Vikings claimed the team title with 173 points, nearly doubling the host Crestwood with 93. The Trojans gathered 41 points on the night to finish ninth.

The South Winn boys’ track and field team ventured into Husky territory Tuesday night to compete at the Oelwein Huskies Boys Invite, finishing fifth with 43 points. Waukon seized the team title with 126 points.

The Vikes won the meet with 185 points. Waukon took second with 165. South Winn finished the night with 50 points in fifth place.

Decorah girls claim Hudson title Tuesday night

It was a cold, windy night on the track Tuesday as the Vikings traveled to Hudson to take part in the Hudson Relays.
Decorah finished first overall with 128.50 points. Denver was second with 114 points. The JV competed at Waukon.

he Decorah girls’ varsity soccer game faced some tough competition when they faced Independence in an away game on Monday (April 11) evening, but the defense held strong keeping scoring relatively low. The Vikings came away with a loss against the Mustangs, 3-0.

After a long week of rainouts and short practices, the Decorah boys’ tennis team headed off to play Winona Cotter on their indoor courts Friday, ultimately prevailing 5-2 as a team.
Viking girls finish third at Top Gun tournament

Decorah traveled to Waterloo’s Byrnes Park on Saturday to compete in the Top Gun tennis tournament. Three of the teams present in the four-team field competed at the state level in 2021. At the end of the day, the Vikings finished third in the team standings (22) with host Waterloo Columbus leading the teams with 33 points.

Vikings suffer loss at Dubuque Senior

The Decorah boys’ soccer teams made the long drive down to Dubuque Thursday for their first regular season game against Dubuque Senior. The junior varsity (1-0) team took away a 3-0 victory, but the varsity (0-1) team walked away with a loss, 5-2 for the Rams.

The Executive Board of the Northeast Iowa Conference “NEIC” met Monday morning to discuss and act on a Resolution to the NEIC Constitution that was presented by New Hampton. The Resolution was to amend the Constitution to remove Waverly-Shell Rock from the conference.
