Facing its third ranked opponent to start the year, the Class 4A No. 13 Decorah girls’ basketball team (1-2, 0-0 NEIC) scored its first victory Saturday over No. 15 Center Point-Urbana (0-3). Senior Yazmeen Whitsitt also scored her 1,000 career point in the 57-49 win.

Warriors fourth at Wapsie Valley, two champions

In the 10-team Chris Davis tournament, hosted by Wapsie Valley Saturday, the South Winn boys wrestling team posted a strong finish.
The Warriors earned four place with 152 points, while Nashua-Plainfield was the team champion with 235.5 points.
South Winn had four grapplers in the finals — Collin Holm, Landen Schnuelle, Kyle Kuboushek and Parker Timp with two standing atop the podium at the end of the day.

Chicago/Mt. Carmel came away with the team title, securing 401 points.
