The wild winds couldn’t stop the Decorah girls tennis team from defeating Aplington-Parkersburg on Tuesday on the road, 7-2.
The Vikings adjusted their varsity lineup to allow more girls to get some valuable match experience, but, in singles, Evon Leitz, Olivia Huinker and Camryn Holland still filled their No. 1-3 singles positions.

Once again, the scoring conditions were not optimal for the South Winn boys’ golf team who competed in the New Hampton tournament Saturday, finished second.

Trojan speedsters collect pair of third place finishes

It was a pair of third place finishes for the Turkey Valley girls’ and boys’ track and field teams Thursday at Kee.
With 66 points, the Lady Trojans finished behind Kee who tallied 96 points and Waukon who had 93. The TV boys posted 58 points as MFL MarMac claimed the team title with 125 ahead of Kee’s 74.

After the rain Decorah girls hit the links

The rain came and went Thursday, allowing the Decorah girls’ golf team to host Winona Senior at the Oneota Golf and Country Club for 18 holes. When the final ball was putted, the Vikes came up short 415 to 397.

Decorah boys’ week wraps up with back-to-back competitions

A week with wind, rain and cold, the Decorah boys’ golf team endured it all with 18-hole competitions Thursday and Friday.

Ranked netters meet in Waverly

A day later than originally scheduled Decorah, Boone and Waverly Shell-Rock, the No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7 ranked teams in Class 1A boys’ tennis met in Waverly for a triangular Friday. Battling colder than usual temperatures and strong winds, the Vikes fell to both squads.

 

 

Warriors capture triangular over Turkey Valley, Tripoli

Friday’s dual meet between Turkey Valley and Tripoli turned into a triangular after Thursday’s dual between the Trojans and South Winn was rained out.

SW girls third, boys sixth at NFV

It was a cold and windy night of competition for teams at the North Fayette Valley invite Friday night.
When the final race was complete, the South Winn girls’ track and field team racked up 79 points to finish third behind Crestwood (150) and Sumner-Fred (86). The Warriors boys accumulated 58 points to take sixth with Union (143) taking the team title, followed by Oelwein with 122 and Sumner-Fred with 77.

Vikes win Indian Relays Friday

Picking up six titles pushed the Decorah boys’ track and field team to the top of the six-team field at the Waukon Indian Relays Friday.
The Vikings earned 200 points for the title over the Waukon Indians’ 147. Osage finished a distant third with 89 points.

Decorah girls finish third at Wahawk invite

In a team race that separated first to third by 13 points, the Decorah girls’ track and field team finished third at the Wahawk 16-team invite hosted by Waterloo West Thursday. Cedar Falls claimed the title with 115 points, with Cedar Rapids second with 108. The Vikes finished the night with 102 points in the third.

A successful first full week of competition for the Warriors was dashed Monday as the South Winn golf teams hosted MFL MarMac and the Waukon boys at the South Winn Golf and Country Club.

The sun was shining down on Viking Stadium as the Decorah boys’ track and field team hosted its final home meet of the 2024 season Monday.
The Vikes won the Decorah Invite, securing 168 points. South Winn came in eighth with 33 points.

After the meet was postponed due to weather from earlier in April the Decorah girls’ golf team finally were able to host Charles City Monday at Oneota Golf and Country Club, coming out on top 199 to 207.

Monday, the Decorah girls tennis team (3-0) traveled to Independence (2-4) for a dual meet and emerged victorious, winning 7-2 over the Mustangs.
In singles, the Vikings won five of six matches.

The visitors came away victorious 3-1.

Competing in New Hampton for the second time in less than a week, the Turkey Valley girls track and field team showed improvement in gathering 31 points Monday night. The Trojans finished seventh in the team standings as Wapsie Valley ran away with the team title, collecting 145 points.
