Tuesday night, the Decorah girls’ soccer team (2-6) managed to squeak out a 3-2 win on the road at New Hampton (1-4).

The three Winneshiek County girls’ and boys’ golf teams met for the annual Winneshiek County Co-Ed Golf Classic at the Oneota Golf and Country Club outside of Decorah Friday.
With last year’s event cancelled because of bad weather, the coaches agreed it was nice to sneak this year’s event in despite the inclement weather. A persistent cold mist and blustery winds caused some minor issues midway through the nine-hole event but the kids persevered.

Hosting a 18-hole quad meet at Oneota Golf & Country Club, the Decorah girls’ golf team garnered 419 strokes to finish third. With 331 it was Sumner-Fredericksburg winning the meet, way ahead of runner-up Crestwood with 391. Waukon was fourth with 491.

In the last full week of the regular season, the Turkey Valley boys’ track and field team as it competed at Clayton Ridge Thursday night, coming away with a pair of titles and a fifth-place finish in the team standings with 56 points. Sumner-Fredericksburg won the team title with 168 points, ahead of MFL MarMac who tallied 135. Rounding out the top three was Clayton Ridge with 71.50.

The team title came down to one point between Waterloo West and Decorah Monday night in Mason City with the Vikings falling short. With 125.50 points, Waterloo West claimed the title, followed by the Vikes and Mason City in a close third with 123.

The Decorah girls’ track and field team posted 182 points Tuesday night to win the Waukon Indian Relays with consistent scoring up and down the line-up. Crestwood finished a distant second with 121, followed by New Hampton with 100.
En route to the team title, the Vikings collected 10 golds on the night.

With the season winding down, the South Winn boys’ track team was back on the track at Osage Tuesday, coming home with a sixth-place finish in the team standings with 60 points. Clear Lake ran away with the team title with 271 points.
