No. 4 Decorah pound Cadets, Bobcats

There has been an explosion of offense in the gym for the Decorah boys’ basketball team (3-0, 1-0 NEIC) with the Vikings collecting impressive points and wins over Western Dubuque and Crestwood.

Bobcats caged
Stout defense contributed to the Vikes a 69-39 win over Western Dubuque (1-1) Friday night at home.
Decorah gave up just 10 points in the first quarter while pulling ahead 19-10 over the Bobcats. At halftime the Vikes held a 31-21 lead and kept on rolling in the second half, putting up 19 in each period for the easy victory.
LaFrentz and Driscoll put the Vikings on their backs with 28 and 21 points, respectively. LaFrentz had a double-double with 12 rebounds to go with six blocks. Driscoll came up with five boards and dished out five assists. Peyton Webb came off the bench to score five points, with four caroms and two steals while Tanner Caddell finished the night with four points, four rebounds and three assists.

NEIC opener
Back on the home court Tuesday night, things came together quickly for the Vikings as Crestwood (0-2, 0-1 NEIC) paid a visit to Decorah in the conference opener. The Vikings battered the Cadets on both sides of the ball to the tune of a 93-58 victory.
Taking a 28-12 lead in the first the Vikings kept the ball flying through the hoop, stretching their lead to 52-28 at halftime. The firepower continued in the third, with Decorah going up 73-47 with eight minutes remaining.
