No. 2 Vikings move to 13-1

All facets of the game continue to click for the Vikings as the Class 3A No. 2 Decorah boys’ basketball team (13-1, 6-0 NEIC) recently earned another pair of wins.

Senior Night
It took some time for the Viking offense to warm up but in no time Decorah took control and cruised to a 74-39 league win over New Hampton (2-12, 0-6 NEIC).
Decorah only trailed once as New Hampton scored the first two baskets of the game. After the Vikes got going, they led 12-9 after the first quarter. The Viking defense held the Chickasaws to just seven points in the second quarter, with the offense exploding for 23 to lead 33-16 at halftime. The Vikings outscored the visitors 20-9 in the third quarter and coasted in the fourth.
Cael LaFrentz paced the way with 36 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots. Noah Milburn contributed 15 points, with Zachary Driscoll putting up 11 points to go with 16 assists and four steals.

Long bus ride
It was a big win Monday night for the Vikings, defeating Cedar Rapids Washington (5-10) on the road 62-50.
Decorah opened the game with a 16-13 advantage after the first eight minutes and remained on top 25-23 as the squads went to the locker rooms. A 22-point third frame boosted the Vikes’ lead to 47-37 and eventually the victory.
