Narrow victory
Things clicked for Decorah in the fourth inning Friday, as the Vikes put up six runs to edge MFL MarMac (0-3, 0-0 UIC) at home, 6-5.
The Bulldogs put up a fight with two runs in the second and sixth innings and threatened with another in the top of the seventh but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Vikes.
Decorah had eight hits in the contest with Autumn Schaller leading the way. The senior was 2-for-3 at the plate. Also pounding out singles were Bryar Duwe, Lani Hubka, Lillian Olson, Lauren Luzum, Clara Hjelle and Edyn Bateman.
Picking up the win was Hjelle with four innings in the pitcher’s circle with three runs on five hits and seven strikeouts.
