Luther’s Hartl – records 600th career softball win

The Luther College softball team defeated the College of St. Scholastica, 8-0, in game one of a double header in five innings at the Rochester Regional Dome, Rochester, Minn. This game was played Sunday, Feb. 28, and the win gave Head Coach Renae Hartl her 600th career victory. 
Hartl, who is in the midst of her 20th season, has now compiled a career record of 600-194 for a winning percentage of .755. Hartl entered the 2021 campaign ranked 9th among active Division III head coaches for career win percentage (.756) and 11th for winningest coaches all-time with a minimum 10 years of experience. She also ranked 22nd among active coaches for career victories. 
During her tenure, Hartl’s teams have averaged 31 wins a season, and have claimed six conference championships (2007, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017). The Norse have also made 10 NCAA III National Tournament appearances in the last 13 years. Collectively, her athletes have earned 85 all-conference honors, four have been named conference MVP and three have been named conference Pitcher of the Year. Hartle has also coached 79 NFCA Midwest Region selections and 23 All-Americans. Her teams have finished third at the NCAA III National championships in 2018, fifth in 2010, 2012 and 2013 and seventh in 2011.
