Lady Trojans see 13 players score

Thursday night was a good one on the hardwood for the Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team (4-8, 3-6 UIC) as the Trojans defeated Tripoli (2-9) on the road 66-32.

The visitors had a good first half, scoring 30 points to take a 15-point edge at the halftime break. The Trojans kept the pedal to the metal in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 24-9 to lead 54-24 with eight minutes to play.

A total of 13 players scored at least one point for the Trojans with Annika Bodensteiner and Mariah Throndson producing 11 points apiece to lead the way. Addison Steinlage put up eight points to go with five assists and five steals. Haylee Hanson had a good game with seven points and seven boards. Layni Schuchhardt added six points, seven steals and five rebounds to the stat sheet.

“It was good to play a game last week with the weather. We started out a little sluggish but I thought we picked up our intensity as the game progressed. We did an outstanding job on defense forcing 48 turnovers,” said Coach Steve Hoffert.

The Trojans have two home conference games this week, hosting Clayton Ridge Tuesday, Jan. 16, and MFL MarMac Friday, Jan. 19, with both games slated to tip-off at 6:15 p.m.
