On the road Tuesday, the South Winn boys’ wrestling team earned a split.
The Warriors took care of Fillmore Central-Lanesboro-Mabel-Canton (FCLMC) 54-12 and fell to host Waukon 46-30.
In the match with FCLMC, the Warriors picked up 10 victories. At 106 pounds, Gavin Thuente edged August Pfeffer by a 4-3 decision. Lukas Weiss picked up bonus points for SW by throwing Quinci Kaase in 4:26 at 144 pounds. Ray Lienau (190) took the 6-1 decision from James Cullen. Receiving forfeits were Aiden Feickert (113), Jamison Zweibahmer (120), Bo Wangsness (132), Landen Schnuelle (150), Quinn Huinker (175), Parker Timp (215) and Kolton Brummond (285).
Battling Waukon, South Winn won six matches. Thuente got his second win of the night by a 10-1 major decision over Trevor Block. Feickert followed suit with a 9-1 major decision over Kale Berinobis. Throwing Garrison Byrnes in 1:16, Weiss picked up his second pin of the evening. In 5:24, Schnuelle put Bralin Regan on his back for the fall. Kyle Kuboushek battled Jared Snitker at 165 pounds to win a 10-1 major decision and Timp threw Tryston Johnson in 1:59.
Friday afternoon, Dec. 8, the Warriors will host their annual tournament at Luther College starting at 4 p.m.
