A fast start with the foot on the pedal was key to the Decorah girls’ basketball team (12-5, 7-1 NEIC) 77-37 win over New Hampton (5-12, 2-6 NEIC) at home Friday night.
The Vikes scored 24 points in the first quarter to lead 24-8 after the eight minutes. That offensive prowess continued in the second with Decorah going into the locker room happy with a 48-23 lead. The Vikes outscored New Hampton 18-7 in the third period with the game all but done.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.
Decorah has a week to continue to work on its game before hosting Waukon Friday, Feb. 2, at 6:45 p.m. The Vikes then turnaround less than 24-hours later and head to Cascade for a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
