Decorah keglers top Waukon

The Decorah bowling teams continue show power, picking up wins over Waukon Friday night.
Against extremely tough conditions at Waukon’s Arrowhead Lanes, the Viking boys showed resiliency, topping the home team 2,685 while the Indians put up 2,377. Baker scores were 147, 221, 162, 177 and 199.
The Vikes were led by Jordan Sims who had scores of 214 and 212. Following close behind were Cade Averhoff, Brock Christensen and TJ Round. Averhoff produced rounds of 197 and 157, while Christensen had 156 and 192. Round was on the board with a 158 and 185. Also contributing to the win were Beau Newhouse (144, 156) and Tyler Novak (145, 163).
“It was a tough day of ‘grinding it out’ with spares winning the day for us,” noted Coach Keith Bruening.
The JV boys’ squad also produced a win, 2,522 to 1,201. Leading the junior varsity squad were Kadin Remick (381), Alex Maki (347) and Shane Treangen (322).
Down by 100 pins in round one, the Viking girls rebounded to win by seven pins, 2,230 to Waukon’s 2,223. Baker scores were 147, 134, 151, 195 and 165.
“Our girls showed great toughness in a hostile place, kept their composure and grinded out a win,” noted Coach K. Bruening.
Marri Feuerhelm led the way with rounds of 180 and 136, followed by Anika Grinna with scores of 155 and 129. Other varsity bowlers included Rylee Averhoff (172, 108), Karlie Einck (144, 136), Asmere Jensen (140, 138) and Naomi Pedlar (96, 95).
The junior varsity girls team received a forfeit and moved to 2-0.
The bowling teams will host Oelwein at Kingpin Entertainment Center Friday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m.
