What I look for in a candidate

By Mary Lewis, Decorah

The things I value most in a candidate are honesty, interest in the people they represent, a respect for facts and a desire to learn. As for the issues, I want someone who cares about our planet and our democracy, and who realizes there are things we must do right now to keep them out of danger. I look for someone who supports education and wants to give people a chance to get a good start, in life, in a career, in a business.

Using these criteria, there is no question in my mind who the better presidential team is, a team that supports these values. The other one falls on the opposite side of all of them.

If you agree with me, do everything in your power to support the presidential and vice presidential candidate who supports your views. The alternative poses existential threats to ourselves, our democracy, our world.

Thanks,
