Thoughts from former Presidents

Dear Editor:
Most people want to put 2020 in the rearview mirror. I know I do. We need to be positive going forward into 2021. However, sometimes it is okay to look back and reflect on past events. 
Franklin Delano Roosevelt – Works Progress Administration, help after the 1930 problems, etc. Quote: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” 
John F. Kennedy – established The Peace Corps March 1, 1961. I was in the Peace Corps 1964 to 1966. Quote: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” 
Ronald Reagan – A nice smile, loved horses, and had an excellent sense of humor. Meeting with Mikhail Gorbachev and the Berlin Wall. After being shot, said to Nancy, “I forgot to duck.” Also, to the doctors, “I hope you are Republican.” Quote: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it along to our children in our bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
