Democracy is on the line

By John Carver, Decorah

We are in a race with time as Nov. 5 approaches. It’s difficult to understand Republican voters who want to vote for a king. Their King, Donald J. Trump, is promoting an aristocracy that will replace our way of life.

Aristocracy takes on ugly features. Voters wishing to promote this idea are encouraged to research people living in Russia, China, North Korea, Venezuela, Hungary and other aristocratic countries. According to him, his best friends are their leaders. What does that tell you? Are they happy with a king? No! And it appears they have no revolution for change in sight, with a foregone conclusion of despair.

Our history encountered a revolution which distanced us from the king of England. The reason was obvious. We didn’t want one person determining our destiny. The same is true today. There is no future under a king. Wake up before it’s too late. We are in a race for our future Nov. 5.
