Be conscientious of tax and asset usage

By Laurie Worcester, Decorah

To the Editor:
First, I am a proud graduate of Decorah High School. My mom taught in the Decorah system and loved her job. Although I am a retired teacher from North Winneshiek, I am a Decorah taxpayer. I am writing regarding the potential sale of North Winneshiek School.
Over 25 percent of my property tax goes toward the Decorah Community School District. I want to emphasize the importance that the board must be conscientious as to how tax money and assets are used.
Decorah Community Schools have two assets that most schools do not have: North Winneshiek School and West Side School. It is my hope and (probably that of all taxpayers) that if and when North Winneshiek or West Side are sold or given away, taxpayer money is not lost in any of the exchanges.
I am supportive of the Decorah Community Schools, and I do not approve of wasting the money of the taxpayer.
