WILLIAM “BILL” SMITH

WILLIAM “BILL” SMITH, 54, of Decorah, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, due to the results of an automobile accident outside of Decorah. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street in Decorah, with Rev. Ginny Olson presiding. Burial is in the Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah and also after 10 a.m. Friday morning at the church. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Bill is survived by his wife, Kris; daughter, Courtney; mother, Dorothy Smith, Cresco; sisters: Karen (Craig) Wedderspoon, Waukon and Deb Priest, Cresco; brothers: Fred Smith, Cresco; Robert Smith, Cresco; and Rick Smith, Cresco; father and mother-in-law, Dale and Geraldine Thompson, Harmony, Minn.; sister-in-law, Jackie Garnatz, Spring Valley, Minn.; brothers-in-law: Dale Jr. (Kathy) Thompson, Chattfield, Minn.; Steve (Kim) Thompson, Harmony, Minn.; Brian (Deana) Thompson, Park City, Mont.; Donnie (Lisa) Thompson, Chattfield, Minn.; along with many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Smith.
