Ronald L. Martin, 71, of Cresco, and formerly of Decorah, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at his home in Cresco. Private family services will be at a later date.
Ron was born Nov. 22, 1945, in Charles City, to Ivan and Ruth (Johnson) Martin. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968, serving two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Some of that time was spent aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. Ron married Carol Sharp April 19, 1969, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City. Ron worked for Salisbury Industries in Charles City and later for Red Line Vending in New Hampton.
Ron is survived by his wife, Carol, of Cresco; five children: Troy (Jennifer) Martin of Cresco, Greg (Carrie) Martin of Cresco, Amy Martin (and Dave Brenner) of Cedar Rapids, Jill (Greg) Suhr of Decorah and Lyn Martin of Decorah; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and three siblings.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
