Mary Joan (Huhe) Rassman, 79, died June 2, 2016, at her home in rural Ridgeway. Visitation was Saturday, June 4, from noon until 3 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, with a prayer and scripture at 1 p.m.
Burial is at a later date at the Ridgeway United Lutheran (Sanderson) Cemetery, rural Ridgeway.
Mary was born July 15, 1936, in Cresco, to Fred and Edith Huhe. Mary worked at the telephone office in Decorah before her marriage to Bill Rassman May 9, 1956. Mary worked as a substitute cook at the Ridgeway School for a few years and then cooked at the Eastern Star nursing home for 23 years. Mary enjoyed crocheting and needlework. She also had an elephant collection as well as a solar dancer collection. Mary took many trips with Bill during their 60 years together.
Mary is survived by her husband, Bill; children: Dale (Sheila) of Protivin; Deb Rassman of Decorah; Donald (Patty) of Melbourne, Fla.; and Doug Rassman of Byron, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Vobr; and one brother, Galen Huhe.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edith Huhe; son, Dean Alan Rassman and her sister Patty Engelhardt.
