Mary Haberichter

Mary Elizabeth Haberichter passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 in Wichita, Kans.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1935 to Lawrence and Ethel Meyer near Ossian. Mary graduated from Ossian High School. She met her future husband Harold Haberichter at Art’s Roller Rink just east of Ossian. Shortly after Harold was discharged from the Army, they were married on June 14, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. They were married over 60 years until Harold passed away in 2017. Mary and Harold began farming north of Ossian, and various farms around Ossian until they purchased a farm east of town. They farmed there until 1978 when they sold their Iowa farm and purchased one south of Clever, Mo., where they farmed until 1989 when they retired to their home in Clever.

Over the years Mary was farm wife and mother, as well as a school bus driver, dental assistant, Licensed Practial Nurse and for a time worked at Silver Dollar City near Branson. Mo. She also loved knitting and word search puzzles. She knitted numerous caps and hats for various charities serving the needs of cancer patients and others over her later years after she retired.

She was preceded in death by Harold, her husband of over 60 years, her parents Lawrence and Ethel Meyer, and her brothers John and Lawrence, Jr.(Larry).

She is survived by her children Marcus (Vivian), Choctaw, OK.; David, Clever, MO.; Angela Glenn, Stafford, MO; and Nathan (Angie), Wichita KS; ten grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, her brother, Marvin (Mike) and sister Larue.

A visitation will be held at 930 a.m, on Sept. 24 at Hope Lutheran Church, 218 E. Highway 174, Republic, Mo., followed by funeral service at the church at 1030, and graveside service after the funeral at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Clever Mo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Hope Lutheran Church, or for Grace Cottage in Wichita. Online condolences may be shared at www.meadorsfuneralhome.com
