Marjorie F. Johnson, 85, died Sept. 6, 2017. A service of resurrection was held at Normandale Lutheran Church in Edina, Minn. Sept. 12, and an inurnment was Sept. 16, at Phelps Cememtery in Decorah.

She was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Decorah, to Horace and Vivian Alm Brickner.
In 1949 she graduated from Decorah High School, where she was an art and music enthusiast, playing clarinet in band and orchestra. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1953, where she was a bagpiper in the Scottish Highlanders.
Marjorie and Charles Johnson of Bowling Green, Ohio, married, raised two sons and later divorced.

Then she earned a degree in medical record coding from St. Mary’s in Omaha, Neb., and worked for 18 years at Hennepin County Hospital. Marj and Lila (Dahle) Kuntz shared a home in Edina, Minn., and then for several years she lived at Vernon Terrace apartments in Edina.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Tina Devine) Johnson of Fairbanks, Alaska and Randy (Kris) Johnson of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren: Kevin, Nick, Lauren and Cory Johnson; sisters, Nancy Gwynne of Spokane, Wash. and Carolyn Flaskerud of Decorah; sister-in-law, Audrey (Rosendahl) Brickner, of Maquoketa; and also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband and brother, David Brickner.
