Lucile Hunemuller, 87, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 14, at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born March 13, 1929, in Decorah, daughter of Julian B. and Grace Goettelman Arneson. She married Virgil Edward Hunemuller May 6, 1951, in Decorah. Lucile graduated from Decorah High School and Wartburg College. She taught first through 12th grade in a one-room schoolhouse in Decorah, worked at Dixie Department Store, and babysat many children over the years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband; three sons: Neal (Maureen) of Las Vegas, Nev., Jay of Norfolk, Va. and Chet of Story City; daughter-in-law, Marsheila Hunemuller of Reinbeck; four grandchildren: Brian Hunemuller, Angie Hunemuller, Bridgette Hunemuller and Holly (Shaun) Galey; seven great-grandchildren: Kamden, Maklyn, Kipton Hunemuller (and another expected); Acacia, Kyden and Dawson Galey, and Aiden Hunemuller; a sister, Evelyn Halse; and a brother, Earlen Arneson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Scot; and a sister, Edith Hoppenworth.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo. 319-233-6138. Burial is in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Lucile enjoyed traveling with family, reading, crossword puzzles and nature. She was a great cook.
