Linda Crain, 70, of Cresco, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at her home in Cresco. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, and one hour before services at the funeral home Friday. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, with Joel Portman as the officiant. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, rural West Union. Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, is helping the family with the arrangements.

Linda June Schutte was born June 13, 1947, in Prairie Du Chien, Wis. to Rueben and Marjorie (Ralston) Schutte. She grew up on her family’s farm in rural Castalia. Linda graduated from South Winneshiek High School.

Linda was united in marriage to Merlin Crain July 28, 1965, in West Union. To this union four children were born. For most of Linda’s life she was the homemaker for her family. After her children were grown Linda worked several different jobs.

Linda enjoyed shopping, fishing, sewing, gardening and canning. She was born again and baptized by the Holy Spirit March 27, 1986, and enjoyed studying and reading her bible. She also enjoyed her walks with Merlin and their dog “Buddy.” Her passion was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her husband, Merlin Crain; her children: Janetta (Bobbey) Butler of Louisiana, Mo., Sandra Crain of Readlyn, Michelle (Arland) Sears of Decorah and Michael (Kathy Stepan) Crain of Fort Atkinson; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Kathy (Lyle) Tollefson, Dean Schutte and Marsha (Roger) Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles “Chuck” Schutte, and great-granddaughter, Jayden Lynn Crain.
