Kevin J. Hageman, 56, of Cedar Rapids, passed away in his home March 14, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Lector was Ellen Sauer. Offertory gift bearers were Kevin’s daughters, Morgan and Ambur Hageman. Organist was Jeanette Dietzenbach. Cantor was Dan Silhacek. St. Aloysius Choir sang “Here I Am, Lord,” “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” “One Bread, One Body,” “Goin’ Home” and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment was at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Calmar. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, Calmar.

Kevin J. Hageman was born Jan. 25, 1963, the son of Paul and Colleen (Wagner) Hageman in Decorah. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic School in Calmar and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1981. Kevin excelled in football, receiving many accolades including: 1979 South Winn player of the week, 1979 First team defense, All Cedar Wapsie Conference, 1979 Oelwein Daily Register All Registerland Football team, 1980 Most valuable lineman, All Cedar Wapsie Conference, 1980 First team all conference defensive lineman, 1980 Iowa Daily Press honorable mention – offensive tackle, 1980 Most valuable player, South Winn, Top defensive player South Winn, secnd team All State Defense at nose guard. He was a member of the 1979 and 1980 Cedar Wapsie Conference Champion South Winn teams that went 18-0. After High School, he attended NIACC in Mason City where he played football for two seasons before transferring to University of Nebraska, Omaha, where he played another two years. After college Kevin moved to Cedar Rapids where he worked for Linn Candy, Farner Bocken and Schimberg Pipe Co. He married Donna Weltha and together they had two children, Morgan and Ambur. They later divorced. Kevin was a fan of Nebraska football. He will be greatly missed; his laugh and humor will always be remembered.

He is survived by his daughters, Morgan and Ambur Hageman, Cedar Rapids; parents, Paul and Colleen Hageman, Calmar; sisters, Ann Marie (Ken) Kirkestue, Monona and Anna Mae (Dave) Hageman-Smith, Monona; brothers, Scott Hageman, Monona and Joel (Kendra) Hageman, Lanesboro, Minn.; nieces and nephews: Cody, Macauley, Blake and Elizabeth Hageman; Ashley Smith, Kyle Kirkestue, Melissa Hageman and Tami Hageman.

Kevin was preceded in death by his nephew, Scott Joseph Hageman; grandparents: Roman and Gladys Wagner and Joseph and Elizabeth Hageman.
