JOHN WIEST, age 85, of Spillville, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, with Deacon Dan O’Brian presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville and also after 10a.m. Saturday morning at the church. There will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a scripture service at 7 p.m. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements. He is survived by his wife Pat of Spillville; children: Sr Jeanne Wiest OP, St. Paul, Minn.; Kathy English, Naples, Fla.; Robert (Sheri) Wiest, Macomb, Mich.; Dan (Lynette Jones) Wiest, Detroit, Mich., and Greg Wiest, Rochester Hills, Mich.; granddaughter: Christine English, Oxford, Mich.; sisters-in-law: Susie Vollmecke, Romeoville, Ill.; Dorothy Kala, Leonard, Mich.; and Carol Kala, Berwyn, Ill.; along with nieces and nephews.
