Jeanette Catherine Imoehl, 87, of Ossian, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Ossian Senior Hospice, Ossian. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian. There also was a one-hour visitation before Mass at the church Friday. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian, with Rev. Robert Gross as the celebrant. Burial followed at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery, Ossian. Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ossian, helped the family with arrangements.
Jeanette Catherine was born Sept. 8, 1930, to Leo and Rose (Bengfort) Holthaus in rural Festina. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales School in 1948.
Jenny was united in marriage with Nilus Imoehl Aug. 18, 1953, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian. Seven children were born to this union. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, singing in the adult choir for many years. Jenny also belonged to the Rosary Society and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved flowers, gardening, feeding the birds and bowling. Jenny was known as a good cook.
Jenny is survived by her husband, Nilus of Ossian; six children: Duane Imoehl of Cedar Rapids, Eileen (Dennis) Linderbaum of Ossian, Lois (Ed) Albertson of Calmar, Gary (Leanne) Imoehl of Ossian, Lenny (Gwen) Imoehl of Castalia and Mark (Lynn) Imoehl of Castalia; 14 grandchildren: Grant (Angela) Linderbaum, Sara (Derrick) Vagts, Brandon (Ashley) Albertson, Kala Albertson, Megan (Kinon O’Neal) Imoehl, Jordan (Kaitlyn) Imoehl, Zach Imoehl, Cody Imoehl, Jeremy Imoehl, Jacob Michels, Emily Michels, Ethan (Kelsey) Imoehl, Elliot Imoehl and Katie Sue Imoehl; 13 great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Hanna and Kennedi Vagts, Brinley, Colton and Kaden Linderbaum, Addyson, Gavin and Blake Albertson, Baylor and Frankie O’Neal, Gabe McFarland and Rowan Imoehl; and one sister, Sr. Norma Jean Holthaus O.F.M. of Dubuque.
Jenny was preceded in death by her son, Leo Imoehl, in infancy; great-granddaughter, Brooke Linderbaum; parents, Leo and Rose Holthaus; two brothers, Art Holthaus and Cletus Holthaus; and three sisters: Esther Selander, Rosella Beckman and Rita Swendau.
