Jason Fleshner

Jason Fleshner, 33, of Decorah, died Oct. 15, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Madison Lutheran Church, rural Ridgeway, with Pastor Jeff Hansen officiating. Organist was Judy Hovden. Hymns were “I, the Lord of Sea and Sky,” “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” Special music was “In this River” by Black Label Society. Honorary casket bearers were Steve Klemme, Kevin Barth, Jay Thompson, Scott Spilde and Kurt Hanson. Casket bearers were Levi Holstad, Logan Holstad, Travis Akre, Trenton Akre, Troy Wendling, Aaron Dahlen, Josh Leidahl. Interment was at Madison Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah.

Jason Lloyd Fleshner was born a twin along with his sister, Jenn, June 10, 1982, in Decorah, the son of Lloyd and Judy (Beltz) Fleshner. Jason attended Decorah Community Schools, and graduated with the Class of 2000. He attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He returned to Decorah and worked at Finholt Construction, CamCar, All Season Construction and most recently with Aaron Dahlen for Decorah Builders. Jason was married to Amber Schroeder Oct. 21, 2006, at St. Benedict Catholic Church. They had three children: Alec, Trinn and Tinley. They later divorced. Jason enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, bowling, hunting, Iowa Hawkeye football, his pick-up truck and keeping it spotless. He was known as a perfectionist and always liked to keep things in order. Above everything else, he loved spending time with his children, playing video games and going to the bowling alley with them.

Jason is survived by his three children: Alec, Trinn and Tinley Fleshner, Decorah; his parents, Judy Fleshner, Decorah, and Lloyd (Cheryl) Fleshner, Ridgeway; his twin sister, Jenn (Troy) Wendling, Independence; half- and step-brothers and sisters: Gary Holstad, Decorah; David (Doreen) Holstad, Decorah;  Michelle Gilgour, Waukee; Travis (Stacy) Fleshner, LaPorte City; Rochelle Fleshner, Minneapolis, Minn.; Trenton (Amy) Fleshner, Woodward; Chris (Vada) Dahl, LeRoy, Minn.; and Josalyn (Matt) Haywood, Decorah; Rachel (Jarod) Schuman, Decorah; and Kyle (Sam) Dahl, Decorah; Jason’s nieces and nephews: Tera Courtney, Levi, Logan and Lindsi Holstad, Danielle and Daiton Holstad and Reese Ann Wendling; Jason’s special friend, Stacy Tweten, Cresco; along with many other nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents: Kenneth and Beverly Knutson and Dale and Esther Fleshner; along with several aunts, uncles and his favorite hunting dog, Roxy.
