Grace Clarice Erickson, 90, of Decorah, died Jan. 10, 2020, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah. Memorial services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aase Haugen, 4 Ohio St., Decorah, IA, 52245, or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 701 Iowa Ave., Decorah, IA, 52245.
Grace was born Oct. 20, 1929, to George and Carrie (Bolson) Hill of Decorah.

She married Myron Erickson, a farmer in rural Decorah, Feb. 23, 1947. She was a hard-working farm wife for many years and a devoted mother to her children Julie, Alan and Lori. Later in life, Grace took a job in the Luther College food service, where she greatly enjoyed interacting with students and other employees. She said that the students kept her young, which helps explain why she waited to retire until she was 81.

Grace was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother with a bright smile and the ability to laugh at herself and at life. She was an active member of Glenwood Lutheran Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Grace is survived by two daughters, Julie (Scott) Fahlin of Plymouth, Minn. and Lori Erickson (Bob Sessions) of Iowa City; two grandsons, Owen Sessions of Minneapolis and Carl Sessions of Chicago; two step-grandchildren, Erik Sessions (Sara Peterson) of Decorah and Sarah (Mick) McGrew of Iowa City, and three step-great-grandchildren, Meg, Mairi and Nina Sessions of Decorah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron and son, Alan Erickson.
Grace’s family is deeply grateful to the staff at Aase Haugen Senior Services for the loving care she received there in her last years.

Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at fjelstul.com.
