Glorianne L. Wicks, 89, of Decorah, died Friday evening, April 6, 2018, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, at Decorah Lutheran Church, with Pastor Brenda Crossfield and Pastor Dave Sorenson officiating. Burial is in Springwater Cemetery in rural Decorah. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, and Friday beginning at 10 a.m., one hour before the service, at Decorah Lutheran Church. Honorary bearers are Cheryl Thompson, Elene Amundson, Gywneth Aarhus, DuWayne Aarhus and Collin Aarhus. Casket bearers and pall bearers are her grandchildren.

Glorianne Lucille Wicks was born Aug. 10, 1928, to Glen and Lillie (Erickson) Pierce in Decorah. Lillie passed away when Glorianne was 13 months old.

Glorianne was adopted by Theodore and Ellen (Erickson) Narveson. Glorianne attended rural school Canoe No. 8 for her elementary education. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1947. She entered Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn., graduating in September 1950.

She married Marion Keith Wicks, the son of Claude and Olive (Olson) Wicks, Nov. 10, 1950, at Decorah Lutheran Church. They were blessed with five children: Janet, Darrel, Loren, Richard and Scott.

Glorianne was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church, and was a lifelong member. She worked as a surgical nurse for four years at the Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah. After a 10-year period of nursing inactivity, she resumed nursing duties in 1964 at Aase Haugen Home where she continued until her retirement in 1990.

Glorianne is survived by her five children: Janet McMillan of Waukon, Darrel (Rosanne) of Waukon, Loren Wicks of Dubuque, Richard (Staci) Wicks of Cresco and Scott (Ronda) Wicks of Pleasantville; 11 grandchildren: Katie (Brad) Stahl, Melissa Wicks, Derek Wicks, Jeremy Wicks, Jamie (Jessie) Wicks and their two children, Carson and Ellie, Noel Lloyd, Seth Lloyd, Devin Wicks, Kirk Wicks, Jacob Wicks and Benjamin Wicks: a special niece who helped her in many ways, Cheryl Thompson of Decorah; and her niece, Elene Amundson; three nephews: Gywneth Aarhus, DuWayne Aarhus and Collin Aarhus; and her brother-in-law, Marvin Wicks.

She was preceded in death by her biological and adopted parents; three adoptive sisters: Joyce Narveson, Eunice Kirkeby and Glady Aarhus; one adoptive brother, Harold Narveson; her husband Marion June 24, 1993; and son-in-law, Dan McMillan Nov. 21, 2001.
