Our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Gladys Hageman, 74, died Friday, May 20, 2016, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis. A Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at the Notre Dame Parish in Cresco. Friends called from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, where there will was a 7 p.m. scripture service. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at the church. She will be laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery in Cresco.
Gladys M. Anderson was born Nov. 31, 1941, daughter of Andrew and Clara (Skaim) Anderson, in Decorah. She was later united in marriage to Lawrence Hageman April 29, 1961, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah. She was the youngest of 13 children. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren and great-grandson. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including nieces and nephews, telling and pulling practical jokes, and was always the last one standing. She enjoyed gambling and testing her luck at the casino, making lefse with her sisters (Three Sisters Lefse), attending her grandchildrens’ school events, and playing numerous card and board games. She also had a love of cooking for her family and large gatherings, and if you attended you never went away hungry or thirsty. Before she was sick she also enjoyed gardening, canning, attending garage sales and cutting out newspaper clippings. She worked at Deco in Decorah and proudly retired after 18 years. She was a long time member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lawrence, of Cresco; children: Wayne (Karen) Hageman, Cresco, David (Kathy) Hageman, Decorah; six grandchildren: Kayla (KJ) Bland, Riverside, Tracy and Alissa Hageman, Cresco, Sydney, Brody, and Shelby Hageman, Decorah; and a great-grandson, Sebastian Alan. Also, she is survived by five sisters: Arlene Hogensen of Decorah, Louise Vander Sanden of Sun Prairie, Wis., Lorraine (Roger) Nolden, Sun Prairie, Wis., Ellen (Arlon) Brown, of Mabel, Minn., Verna (Willard) Hanson of Decorah; and three sisters-in-law: Gloria (Leo) Bartlett, Donna Anderson, Irma Tenge of New Hampton; and one brother-in-law, Gene (Phylis) Hageman, of Harmony, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Clara; 7 siblings: Arnold, Pearl, Clarence, Florence, Leonard, Rueben and Orval.
