Geraldine Greve

Geraldine Francis Greve, 88, of Ossian, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022 at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian.

Geraldine was born Jan. 16, 1934 to Russel and Pauline (Reid) Zubrod in Oelwein, Iowa. Geraldine was united in marriage with Kenneth Greve on August 10, 1952 in Independence. Together they owned and operated Oran Motors in Oran for 29 years. (1972 to 2001)

Geraldine loved to cook and made the best baked beans. She enjoyed growing flowers, decorating, swinging outside, watching the birds and wildlife. She also had a love for dogs and animals in general. Geraldine enjoyed helping her daughter, Paula with her flower shop in Fayette. For the last several years she lived with David and Laura and loved spending time with their three children.

Surviving Geraldine are her four children, Paula (Mike) Schoonover of Sumner, Teri Briddle of Bellevelle, Ill., Brenda Kuhlmann of Waterloo, and David (Laura) Greve of Ossian; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Ruth Potwin of Waterloo, Chuck (Eleanor) Zubrod of Clinton, and Barney Zubrod of Waterloo.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Russel and Pauline Zubrod; husband, Kenneth Greve on March 8, 2003; grandson, Ryan Briddle; sisters, Jacqueline Zubrod, Virginia Hannan and Jean Harland; and her brothers, Edward Zubrod and Dick Zubrod.

ACelebration of Life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 2102 South Fredrick Avenue, Oelwein, Iowa. A Graveside Service with Pastor David Lenth officiating will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein. Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ossian is assisting the family with arrangements.
