Gary Halvorson

Gary Halvorson, 62, of Shreveport, La. (formerly of Mabel-Hesper area), joined his Heavenly Father Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at his home in Louisiana. There will be a private family service and burial at a later date.

Gary Ronald Halvorson was born Nov. 10, 1955, the son of Donald and June (Barth) Halvorson in Decorah. Gary was baptized at Hauge Lutheran Church and confirmed at Hesper Lutheran Church. He attended Mabel-Canton Schools. Gary enlisted in the Army where he later received a medical discharge due to his bad knees. He drove truck for many years. Gary had a great sense of humor just like his dad. He had many friends and will be missed by all of them.

Gary is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Ruth Halvorson; parents, Donald and June Halvorson, Decorah; sisters, Elaine (Tom) Livezey, Greenville, Texas and Darlene (Dennis) Gibson, Pittsburg, Texas; eight nieces and nephews: Christopher Austin, Decorah; Scott (Tiff) Livezey, Greenville, Texas; Jennifer (Donald) Hooker, The Colony, Texas; Charles Jr. (Tiffany) Halvorson, Washington; Louann “Tweety” (Joe) Rilling, Burr Oak; Solomon (Rachel) Halvorson, Des Moines; Uriah (Jordan) Halvorson and Andrew (Andrea) Halvorson, both of La Crosse, Wis.

Gary was preceded in death by his older brother, Charles Donald Halvorson; grandparents: Hans and Mabel Halvorson; Earl and Helen Barth and Arnold and Hazel Erland.
