Floyd L. Wernet, 92, of Caledonia, Minn., formerly of the Bluffton and Coldwater Creek area, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at the Caledonia Care and Rehab. Visitation was from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel. A graveside service was at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Bluffton Cemetery.

Floyd was born March 11, 1923, in Winneshiek County, to George and Lydia (Qualley) Wernet. He lived in the Mabel area, moved to California, and then back to Bluffton, Mabel and Preston. He has spent the last years at Caledonia Care and Rehab. He enjoyed listening to music, playing his harmonica, Yo-yo’s, tops, listening to wind chimes and music boxes, being outside and wearing a tie every day.

Floyd is survived by a sister-in-law, Angie Wernet, of Caledonia; brother-in-law, Ron Ludeking, of Decorah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl; and three sisters: Doris Whalen, Florence Patterson and Georgia Ludeking.
