Eleanor Seegmiller, 99, of Decorah, died Saturday, Dec, 2 2017, at the Barthell O.E.S Home in Decorah. There will be no formal services for Eleanor. Her ashes will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. with her family in attendance.
Eleanor was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Canada to Pastor Henry and Ethel Braa. She graduated from Gale College in Galesville, Wis. She married Gillmer Seegmiller in October, 1940. Following his return from service in World War II they lived in Decorah. They enjoyed genealogy, square dancing and together wrote the book Decorah, City of Springs. Eleanor was a wonderful mother, active in Decorah Lutheran Church and worked at several businesses in Decorah including KDEC.
She is survived by their two children, Julie (John) Braaten and Steven (Deborah) Seegmiller; her sister, Bonnie Braa Warrington of Decorah; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Eleanor Braa Seegmiller was the widow of Gillmer Seegmiller.
