Edward “Ed” Youngblood

Edward “Ed” Youngblood, 60, of Decorah, died Thursday, May 14, 2020, at his home in Freeport outside of Decorah. There was a graveside service with full military rites Tuesday, May 19, at 1 p.m., in the Freeport Cemetery. Rev. Al Hanson presided. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements. Memorials may be sent in memory of Ed to his daughter Michelle Youngblood: 707 Berg Blvd. SE, Stewartville, MN 55976.

Edward Norice Youngblood was born Nov. 11, 1959, the son of Norice and Donna (Olson) Youngblood in Decorah. Ed graduated from Decorah High School. Following high school, Ed enlisted in the United States Army where he was proud to have served for 31 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. Ed’s passion was hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He also loved hosting fish fries and spending time with family and friends.

Ed is survived by his daughters, Michelle Youngblood, Stewartville, Minn. and Tiffany Bohlen, Rochester, Minn.; special friend, Jane Hall, Canton, Minn.; two grandchildren; father, Norice Youngblood, Decorah; sisters: Susan (Wayne) Carlson, Dubuque; Luann (Ross) Moen, Cresco; Mary (Dick) Church, Cedar Rapids; Becky (Brad) Cavett, Williamsburg; Christine (Bruce) Bohr, Ossian; and Patty Youngblood, Cedar Rapids; brothers: Tom (Becky) Youngblood, Chetek, Wis.; Harold (Dawn) Youngblood, Marshalltown; and John Youngblood, Decorah; along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Mae (Olson) Youngblood; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
