Denis Craig Wemark

Denis Craig Wemark, 78, of Ridgeway, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco and again one hour prior to services at the church.

Denis was born June 7, 1940, to Maurice and Stella Margaret (Magnus) Wemark. He grew up in Ridgeway on the family farm. Graduated from Ridgeway High School, went on to Luther College and graduated in 1963. He married Dianne Qvern July 7; they were married 51 years. To this union five children were born: Julie, Amy, Jeffrey, Anne and Sara.

Denis spent most his life farming and milking cows. Whether watching sports, music programs or just spending time at the farm, he cherished the time with his kids and grandkids. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever he could get away. He was a member of the How-Win School Board, was an active member of the Cresco Wildlife Club and very involved with the church. He enjoyed ushering and reading the lessons whenever called upon. Later in life he never missed his afternoon card game and a Diet Pepsi.

Denis is survived by wife, Dianne; children: Julie (Todd McDonald) Wemark, Jackson, Neb., Amy Wemark, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Jeffrey (Belva) Wemark, Ridgeway, Anne (Wayne Smith) Wemark, Cresco and Sara (Mike) Fee, Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren: Daesha, McKenzie, RikkiLee, Liam, Oliver, Kaleb, Zach, Makayla, Brayden, Paige, Wesly, Logan, Matthew, Kendra and Dylan; brother, Lynn (Marlene) Wemark and aunt, Patty (Wayne) Hovden; in-laws: Bob (Dianne) Qvern, Kris (Roger) Richardson, Marti (Dennis) Chvatal; and many nieces and nephews.

Denis was preceded in death by parents; Maurice and Stella Margaret (Magnus) Wemark and brother, Wayne Wemark; in-laws, Bob (Marge) Qvern and sister-in-law, Danelle Koster; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
